My friends, these devotions written to encourage you is often written from my own place of pain, trials and tribulations. I have in the past and continue to go through my personal season of daily waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promises to come to pass in my life and I don’t know about you, this season is extremely hard and often leaves me with an overwhelming feeling.
It is during one of this seasons that the Lord brought to my remembrance the scripture in Isaiah 40:31 that says “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”.
I found this scripture to be absolutely true. Think about it, in our waiting season we are exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally from worrying about a situation we can do nothing about and as a result, we have no strength to enjoy all the blessings of God around us. This has certainly been my reality.
For us to enjoy our waiting season, we must intentionally choose to:
- Draw strength from God – Undoubtedly, the season is difficult, frustrating but we must remember that God created the Heavens and the earth and our situation is not too much for Him to handle. We draw strength through prayer for the grace to wait and not be anxious and if you are able to fast, even better because it refocuses your attention on God rather than the situation.
- Be Thankful – This is where it helps to be reflective on the past history we have with God. Looking back on His faithfulness to us in the past and in the present for giving us the gift of life to wait. What good is our waiting season if we have no life or good health to enjoy it. For me this thought process helps me put things in perspective. Undoubtedly, we always have cause to be thankful.
Christ follower, don’t let satan box you into a place of desperation during your waiting season. (I know this to be true because I experience this too). Rather, intentionally choose to enjoy the season because everything has an expiry date. If you are currently not a Christ follower, today is the day of salvation – come.
All glory to God!
