Our Help in Times of Need

My friends, I don’t know about you, I am one of those people who struggle with asking for help from others because I don’t want to feel like a burden and primarily, I don’t like the feeling of being turned down.

However, there is someone you and I can turn to for help without fear of being rejected or feeling like a burden and might I add, He is in total control because He has the capability, ability and integrity to meet our needs according to His plan and purpose for our lives. The word of God reminds us of this truth in Psalm 121:2 that our “help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”.

Imagine the God who made the universe availing Himself to help us – this is a far superior help than anyone can offer us.  So, why are we not embracing His offer of help?  Could it be that we are:

  • Distracted – The world we live in is so full of ungodly distractions that consume us and often leave us overwhelmed, afraid, helpless and hopeless.
  • Prideful – We think we can handle our situation ourselves and we don’t need God’s help.  I have found myself in this situation in the past and had to take a corrective action because it is impossible for me to live the Christian life without the help of God.
  • Ignorant – I recall a time that I always wondered how God can come down from Heaven and help someone like me.  Not so – God uses the situations, circumstances and events of our lives to raise help for us. Our part is to ask in prayer, trust Him to give us what we need at His timing.

Christ follower, God rules and reigns in the affairs of men and whatever you need help for – be it relational, emotional, marital, spiritual, career, business, financial, children and so on, remember, God is your help in times of need and He desires to help you. If you are currently not a Christ follower, the only help you will need is found in Christ – come.

All glory to God!
