My friends, the Scripture reminds us in that “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).
As I reflect on that Scripture, I am reminded of my own checkered past and how God gave me a Word: He has forgotten my past and He is about to glorify Himself in my life! Yet, with this most amazing promise, not earned or deserved, I still find myself sometimes burdened with the yoke of my past failures, forgetting the Truth that God does not keep the records of my past.
Our past failures are forgiven and forgotten by God. And when Satan brings these thoughts into our lives to discourage us from fulfilling our calling, we should remind ourselves with a heart of thanksgiving to:
- Accept the freedom that Jesus provided on the Cross – It was for you and I that He went to that Cross as confirmed by the Scripture, that He loved us so much that He gave His only Son and if we believe, we will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Oh Lord, help us to grasp this truth!
- Enjoy the freedom – It’s foolishness for us to walk around with a yoke of slavery when the Great Master has already set us free! More importantly, we must never forget that it’s Satan’s ploy to steal our joy and keep us feeling condemned. May God deliver us from the spirit of condemnation, in Jesus Name. Amen.
If you are a Christ follower, choose today to walk in freedom as you journey through life with Christ. If you are currently not a Christ follower, the only freedom you can ever know and enjoy is that which Christ paid for on the Cross of Calvary with no strings attached. Come today and experience that joy of salvation!
All glory to God!
