My friends, I don’t know about you, but often, I need comfort for the troubles of life that beset me and consequently I hold on to the word of God in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 that says “Praise to the God of All Comfort. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God”.
How reassuring these words are! If you are going through a family loss, emotional, physical and spiritual troubles today, these words are equally for you if you believe that the words of God are yes and Amen! Allowing God to be our Comforter helps us to:
- See and value the lessons in our troubles – God uses our experience and positive reaction to comfort those who are going through similar situations.
- Rest in His Promises – The word of God is full of promises reassuring us that He will be with us. I particularly love Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me”.
If you are a Christ follower, allow God to comfort you and also use your troubles to provide comfort for others. If you are currently not a Christ follower, life without the Comforter – Jesus is a hopeless life and you can change that by saying Yes to Jesus today, so come!
All glory to God!
