My friends, for many years, one of the barriers that kept me from growing in my Christian walk with Christ was the word “Holiness.” The Word gave me a mental block because I thought it was totally impossible to attain. The Lord began to teach me that my daily relationship with Him was where Holiness is developed rather than in religion and theology. I then realized that walking in Holiness is attainable by the grace of God and Holiness is the issue of my heart, manifested in my life style. With Holiness also comes tremendous benefits.
We are encouraged in 1 Peter 1:15-16 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
So, what does a life of Holiness look like for a Christ follower?
- It is a proof of a disciplined life – Showing that God is now in control of our lives and we are intentionally walking in and focusing on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).
- Being spiritually sensitive – When the Truth of God’s Word corrects and guides our daily situations, circumstances and events. The knowledge and application of the Word will keep us from spiritual ignorance and Satan’s deception.
- Maintaining an eternal perspective – Staying focused on Heaven, a glorious destination that awaits us and using our time here on earth wisely to bring God glory. Because we are in a spiritual battle, there will be occasional setbacks. When that happens, we repent, draw strength from God and keep on moving forward. There is no time to dwell on our past failures when Jesus isn’t dwelling on them.
Christ follower – don’t allow the word “Holiness” to discourage you. Walking in Holiness is attainable. Choose to walk intentionally in it and reap the benefits of a transformed life and the assurance of spending eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you are currently not a Christ follower, come and experience today the joy of salvation.
All glory to God!
