Navigating Life with Patience

My friends, sometimes, while waiting, we struggle to keep a positive attitude. However, we can be comforted knowing that God will give us the patience and peace we need to keep waiting until our breakthrough comes.

Over 10 years ago, the LORD gave me a promise concerning a personal situation. I have since lived with expectation to see the fulfillment of the promise. The truth is, during this waiting season I have sometimes lost my patience and walked in discouragement. It is during such difficult moments that the Holy Spirit reminds me this scripture: “He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.” (1 Samuel 15:29).

As Christ followers, we need patience to navigate the situations, circumstances and events of life. The story of Joseph continues to remind us how God used the difficult situation of his life to build his patience, character and faith, and God certainly wants to do the same for us as we learn to trust His plan and timing.

Navigating life with patience will inspire us to face whatever life presents us and in doing so, God will:

  • Renew our strength – I don’t know about you, there are times that I struggle emotionally, physically and spiritually. In crucial time the only place I can draw strength from is in God’s Word, in praise and thanksgiving.
  • Renew our eternal perspective – Sometimes, all we need is a little change in our thinking to shift us from that place of impatience and discouragement to a place of hope. The practical way I have handled this is to ask myself, what it would profit me if I have all the success I ever dreamt of or imagined and lose my soul (Mark 8:36). This change in perspective refocuses me and allows me to continue to run the Christian race without getting weary.

Christ follower, I don’t know what the LORD has promised you or what you are believing Him for. Nevertheless, my prayer for you is that the power of the Holy Spirit will energize your body, soul and spirit as you patiently wait upon the LORD, in Jesus Name. Amen. If you are currently not a Christ follower, everything you need to do life can only be found in His presence – so come!

All glory to God!
