What it means to be spiritually significant

Those who are into gardening know that when plants are not watered and given necessary nutrients, they become dry and eventually die. However, when they are well nurtured, their leaves are always green and they bear beautiful fruits.

My friends, feeding on the Word of God is like plants being nurtured to bear beautiful fruits. This is a prerequisite for success if we desire to be spiritually significant. Otherwise, we will be tossed around like a wind, from every doctrine that abounds around us.

The Word of God reminds us to Keep “this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”. (Joshua 1:8).

Because the Word of God is alive, active and sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12), it helps us to:

  • Remain steady – Spending time reading and meditating on the Scriptures keeps us spiritually steady when satan comes along with his schemes and devises. We can locate and apply specific Scriptures to resist his attacks on our lives and the ones we love.
  • Be committed – Our commitment to serving God should come from a place of trust, and we can only trust God if we know His character. The only place we can find that the Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does (Psalm 145:13) is in the Bible.
  • Apply the knowledge we gain – Reading the Bible without application is not wise and won’t do us any good. The Holy Spirit helps us to apply what we have read to our daily living and as a result, we begin to bear beautiful fruits of consistent prayer life, winning souls and serving others in and outside our church community and so on.

Christ follower, may the Lord help us not to live in spiritual ignorance of the Power in the word of God. If you are currently not a Christ follower, don’t be deceived. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever (Isaiah 40:8). Come, today is the day of salvation.

All glory to God!
