My friends, it is God’s desire for us to enter into our rest, if it were not so, He will not give us His promise in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Yet so often, we just glaze over His promises because we often can’t make the connection between God’s promises and our situation – I know, because I have walked this path many times.
Do you need rest from pain, hurt, shame, unforgiveness, relational and emotional problems – whatever you need rest from, God is simply asking you to:
- Come to Him – With all your unrest (through prayer) and He has assured you that He will not leave you or forsake you. He listens better than a friend or family and even better, He can resolve your unrest at His own time and for His glory.
- Lean on Him – not your own understanding – If you are anything like me, I am always trying to strategize in my mind how God is going to give me the rest I need and in doing so, I end up in more unrest. It is important to remind ourselves that our job is to lean and its God job to do what we cannot do for ourselves.
Christ follower, enter into your rest this year. If you are currently not a Christ follower, the one that can give you rest is calling – come.
All glory to God!
