My friends, giving thanks in my opinion is not a choice – but a MUST. Everyday we see and experience a new day should motivate us to give thanks to God for the gift of life.
Think about it, what can we accomplish without the gift of life – you can not enjoy fellowship with your loved ones, get that business deal, have a successful career, marry, acquire wealth, make merriment or whatever your goals and aspirations are in life.
We are reminded in God’s word in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. Our daily thanksgiving acknowledges that:
- Everything we own is a gift from God – Our life, health, possessions, talents, time and so on and we are not taking God’s goodness in our lives for granted.
- We are choosing to walk in obedience – Giving thanks to God is an act of obedience to His command. Think about it, what can you give the God who has and owns everything other than your thanksgivings and praise. Besides, we are practicing for heaven – because we will be joining the host of angels giving thanks for eternity.
Christ follower, do not let Satan steal your thanksgiving this year – in all things give thanks. If you are currently not a Christ follower, come and show your act of thanksgiving to the one who died on the cross for you – Jesus by giving your life to Him.
All glory to God!
