My friends, think about a time when your life spiraled out of control through a situation, circumstance and event of life and there was no one physically around to comfort you in that dark place. Yet, you sensed and felt an indescribable peace – that feeling is the presence of the Holy Spirit providing you comfort.
Jesus promised us in John 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you”.
I don’t know about you but this comfort far outweighs any human comfort and we all need it when going through physical, emotional or spiritual vacuum in our lives. It is freely given according to God’s promise to us and all that is required of us is to:
- Receive the Comforter by faith – Taking God at His word and in the place of prayer asking the comforter to come and dwell in us and provide us the comfort we need.
- Listen to the voice of the Comforter – We learn to discern the voice speaking – God or Satan through reading, understanding and applying of God’s word. Remember, God’s voice does not condemn us but brings us to repentance and loving relationship with Him.
Christ follower, let the Holy Spirit provide you all the comfort you need this year. If you are currently not a Christ follower, the God of all comfort awaits you, come.
All glory to God!
