My friends, discouragement is an emotion that Satan uses to distract us from fulfilling our purpose in life. serving God does not exempt us from discouragement but it should draw us closer to God who is able to help and encourage us in our time of need.
Psalm 34:17-19 is a reminder of God’s heart of love toward us “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
Defusing discouragement with hope involves:
- Arming ourselves with the word of God – Through learning and meditating on relevant scriptures for application when the season of discouragement eventually comes.
- Remembering God’s love toward us – It is important not to call to question God’s love toward us in our discouragement – doing so will be playing right into the hands of satan.
- Praising God – This works all the time – as we intentionally choose to praise God, the heaviness of heart fades away and its replaced with hope.
Christ follower, defuse discouragement with hope this week and year. If you are currently not a Christ follower, come and experience the God who readily waits to give you hope in your discouragement.
All glory to God!
