TO ALL OF MY FRIENDS AROUND THE GLOBE – HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We give God all the praise, glory, honor and adoration for allowing each and everyone of us to see the end of the year 2018. We started the year 2018 with many, but they did not see the end. We are not better than them – only the grace and mercy of God kept us alive, and for a purpose – so give Him more praise!
It is always of great interest to me that the ability or capability that God has bestowed upon us can have positive or negative consequences if we don’t use them to honor Him. Power is one of these abilities that I have seen people use to dishonor God or to bring Him glory.
As Christ followers, we need power to be effective for God’s Kingdom. However, with power comes responsibilities. So, how do we experience and use God’s power responsibly to make a difference in our world that desperately needs Jesus? We do so in some of the following ways:
- Receiving by faith God’s promise to us – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) Without God’s power, we can accomplish nothing, and it is futile exercise if we try to do anything in our own strength. In my experience, that always ends in total frustration.
- Gathering knowledge from the word of God – To build our faith. As we study the Word of God, our faith increases, and we are able to experience God’s power in a special way in our lives.
- Achieving what God has called us to do – By sharing the Good News of the Gospel using our own testimony, praying for and serving others with the love of Christ.
- Conquering our fleshly desires – By learning to identify and flee from the traps that Satan always sets for us. His goal is to draw us away from accomplishing God’s plan for our lives.
Friends, all the above is possible “In Christ” backed by His promise in Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose”.
Christ follower, experience and use God’s power to make a difference in your life and the life of others. If you are currently not a Christ follower, come, taste and see that the Lord is good.
All glory to God!
