My friends, this week, we are going to focus on SELF – The Barrier to Experiencing God’s Love. I know this to be true because I too struggle with self.
How Satan loves to use this tool to stop us from experiencing God’s love because he knows that God is displeased when we are self-centered. The Bible warns us in Romans 2:8 that “those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger”.
A Bible character who focused on self was Samson. He was destined for greatness because he was dedicated to God from birth. However, instead of living according to God’s plan for his life, he was constantly focusing on SELF – doing things he had no business doing. Meditate on his story in the Book of Judges chapters 13-16.
The SELF hindering us from experiencing God could be our relationships, career, wealth, positions, business, lifestyle, disposition to hate, anger, jealousy, conniving, gossiping and so on. Focusing on ourselves will not fulfill God’s purpose for our lives, instead we must prayerfully focus on:
- God First – And everything else we need to do life will be given to us as well. This is God’s promise and it is guaranteed if we trust and believe Him (Matthew 6:33).
- Making a difference in our world – By serving others and living a godly life for others to see and glorify God.
Christ follower, SELF promises what it cannot deliver but God has an excellent plan for our lives and ready to back us if we are willing. If you are currently not a Christ follower, today is the day of salvation – come.
All glory to God!
