Friends, looking back at my life and the consequences of the wrong choices I have made, I have often wondered why God did not take away my ability to choose in those horrible situations. The answer to my thinking is that God gives us the free will to choose and this power also comes with huge responsibilities.
Now that I am a new creation in Christ, one of the scriptures that helps me exercise my power of choice daily is Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
The greatest choice we could ever make in life is to serve the Lord with our household and our influence to make this choice should be based on:
- What Jesus did for us – By reflecting on our past and how He redeemed us from a life of hopelessness and gave us hope through His death on the cross.
- The hope of eternity – One day soon, we too will join the multitude from every nation praising God for ever and ever – amen.
Christ follower, daily declare like Joshua that you and your household will serve the Lord and follow through with your actions. If you are currently not a Christ follower, choose to serve the Lord this day and your life will never be the same again.
All glory to God!
