My friends, this week, we are focusing on JOY.
I don’t know about you, but I am not often joyful particularly living in a world that daily sucks out our joy through situations, circumstances and events.
However, I am always comforted by the word of God in Nehemiah 8:10 where the children of God were encouraged after they repented of their sins and turned back to the Lord. Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
So, how do we maximize our joy this week and always? By:
- Focusing on Jesus – not our situations, circumstances or events – to be joyful requires an intentional state of mind – you have to do this every time an unpleasant situation arises.
- Praise and worship of the Most High God – I have found this to be very effective when going through circumstances that are not joyful. When I engage in praise and worship, there is peace that overflows my spirit – try it!
Christ follower, begin to maximize your joy this week with the help of the Holy Spirit and the joy of the Lord will be your strength. If you are currently not a Christ follower, come – the God that can help you to be joyful awaits you.
All glory to God!
